Construction Information for your Convenience (CONVINCE) is a portal developed by CIDB, as a one-stop centre of Malaysia’s construction data. This initiative is one of the measures under the Construction Industry Transformation Plan (CITP) to create a centralised construction database in Malaysia.
CONVINCE functions as a data warehouse and collects data from CIDB operating system. It is wholly dedicated to produce and analyses construction statistics for the public.
It is entirely different with other CIDB systems, as CONVINCE aims to provide construction data without interrupting the main operating CIDB systems, such as CIMS.
The public must be registered as users to access CONVINCE. Registered users will be allowed to browse and download for the latest construction statistics.
Yes, users registered for free and need to complete a simple registration form at CONVINCE.
The statistics is updated periodically, depending on the data. It is either updated on a monthly, quarterly or biannually basis.
Charts and tables can be download for free according to the desired format.
The information at CONVINCE can be used in policy formulation, strategic planning, investment decision, scientific research, and construction industry forecast.
With CONVINCE, CIDB construction data will be centralised. It will enable easier access and transparency of construction information for the public. This is also in line with the government initiative to increase the availability of data to the public.
CONVINCE is developed to increase the efficiency and reliability in extracting and analyzing data. Moreover, CONVINCE is totally different with the current CIDB systems, which are developed to operate and served CIDB main activities, such as the registration of contractors.
Every effort is put to ensure only the accurate data are published at CONVINCE. However, the task to check and verify the data falls under each of CIDB systems. CONVINCE can only filter and massage the data accordingly, but cannot amend or correct the data collected atom.
CONVINCE operates by automatically collecting or pumping data periodically from each CIDB systems. Optionally, CONVINCE also provides a data upload services for CIDB activities which monitors its activities manually.
Yes, there is a subtle difference. CONVINCE updates its data every night from CIDB main operating systems, and not based on real time data. This is to ensure faster data mining and to minimize the discrepancy every time a new information were updated on the system. But please be rest assured that the variance were negligible, compared with the eased of automatically updated data every night at CONVINCE.
